Playdate in the Forest: A Fun-Filled Farm Retreat in the New Forest

Confirmed dates are 27-29 Nov 2026, 8-10 Jan, and 5-7 Feb 2027 for the farm

You know that feeling when your body is asking to move, your mind is asking for space, and the idea of sitting quietly for an entire weekend feels just a little too much?

Then this could be the retreat for you.

Dates for this retreat will be announced soon, and you’re invited to the New Forest for a joyful, nature-filled farm retreat : a proper playdate for your body, your senses and your curious spirit. Yoga will thread the weekend together, but there will be plenty of room to get outside, try something new, laugh with lovely people and let the natural world bring you back to yourself.

Just 80 minutes from London, you’ll find ancient woodland, open fields, fresh air, cosy fires, warm food and the soft, satisfying tiredness that comes from being truly engaged in life.

No need to sit still all weekend.

Come and play.

A retreat for the not-sitting-still kind of yogi

Perhaps you love yoga, but you also love walking for miles, getting muddy, trying new things and following a path simply because it looks interesting.

Perhaps you want a weekend with choices.

You might join a morning Vinyasa flow, then head out into the forest on two wheels. You could spend an afternoon kayaking, try horse riding, wander through the ancient woodland or simply follow the quiet lanes towards Pilley and Lymington.

There are hundreds of bike trails through the New Forest right on your doorstep, along with plenty of opportunities for walking and exploring. The landscape changes as you move through it : woodland opening into heath, sunlight filtering through the trees, the earthy scent of leaves beneath your feet.

And when you’ve had your fill of fresh air, you can return to the farm, stretch out your legs, settle beside a warm fire and let the evening unfold gently.

This is movement and stillness in balance. Adventure and restoration. A weekend where you don’t have to choose between doing something and doing nothing.

Your New Forest farm sanctuary

This is a farmstay like no other.

Set across 180 acres of family-run farmland, the retreat venue has been certified organic by the Soil Association since 1996. You’ll find fresh vegetables growing around you : and, when the season allows, perhaps even something lovely to pick for the table.

The farm has genuine eco credentials and has been featured in The Guardian as “Pure Luxury in the Forest.” It’s a place where comfort and connection to the land sit side by side.

You’ll stay in beautifully converted barns, with plush single, twin and double rooms. All share facilities between two rooms. There’s warmth, character and space to breathe : the sort of surroundings that encourage you to put your phone away, pull on a jumper and notice the changing light across the fields.

After an active day, come back to the cosy glow of the fires. Sink into a roll-top bath. Let your muscles soften. Feel that deep, well-earned tiredness move through you.

You’ve been outside. You’ve played. You’ve breathed more deeply than usual.

And now you can rest.

Yoga to energise, soften and restore

Your yoga weekend will include a thoughtful combination of:

  • Vinyasa flow yoga, beginning with gentle stretching and breathwork before gradually building into an energising practice
  • Yin yoga, with longer, quieter holds to encourage release and deep relaxation
  • Meditation, creating moments of stillness and spaciousness
  • A group workshop, shaped around the energy and interests of the group
  • A guided silent walk, allowing you to experience the forest without needing to fill every moment with conversation
  • Individual guidance, so you can work at a level that feels supportive for your body and your experience

The morning practices begin softly, with stretching and pranayama : breathing exercises that help you arrive fully in your body. From there, you’ll build gradually into Vinyasa flow, moving with your breath and waking up your energy.

You don’t need to be flexible, experienced or “good at yoga”. You simply need to arrive as you are.

In the evening, Yin offers the opposite kind of nourishment. You’ll settle into longer-held postures, allowing gravity and time to do some of the work. There is no striving here. No need to perform. Just the quiet invitation to soften, release and receive.

You choose how you play

The afternoon workshop will be shaped by the group. If you’re feeling playful, it might become an AcroYoga session : exploring balance, trust and connection with a partner. If you’re longing to rest, it could be a deeply soothing Yoga Nidra practice.

You might explore an Ayurvedic detox lecture, try aerial yoga, relax into a sound bath or experiment with edible art inspired by the landscape around you.

There may be time for foraging, discovering what grows around the farm and forest, or simply sitting in the sunshine with a cup of tea. If the coast is calling, you could make space for a sea dip too : for the brave, and for anyone who finds that cold water brings a certain bright, wild clarity.

This is your retreat.

You can be adventurous. You can be quiet. You can change your mind.

Food that nourishes you from the inside out

You’ll be cared for around the table as well as on the mat.

Your breakfasts, lunches and dinners will be delicious, generous and nourishing, with drinks, afternoon tea and cakes included. Expect wholesome food made with care, using seasonal ingredients wherever possible : perhaps gathered from the farm, perhaps inspired by the forest, always prepared to help you feel well-fed and satisfied.

With Nova’s Leiths-trained chef experience, food is an important part of the retreat. Meals are not an afterthought or something squeezed between activities. They are moments to gather, connect and enjoy.

Picture a warm supper after a woodland walk. A colourful plate of vegetables after your morning practice. Fresh coffee, tea and something sweet in the afternoon as you chat by the fire.

Nourishment can be simple.

It can also be beautiful.

A little village, a beautiful town and plenty of choice

When you’re ready to wander beyond the farm, the village of Pilley is just a five-minute walk away, with two outstanding pubs : perfect for a relaxed drink or a cosy meal.

Less than two miles away, you’ll find Lymington, a beautiful New Forest town with plenty of welcoming pubs, restaurants and places to explore. You can make the weekend as peaceful or sociable as you like.

Take a forest path. Browse the town. Hire a kayak. Go horse riding. Cycle beneath the trees. Walk until your cheeks are rosy, then return to the farm and let yourself be looked after.

There is no pressure to do everything.

The joy is knowing that you could.
