Coast or farm?
It is a genuine dilemma. Both are excellent. Both involve yoga, good food, fires, fresh air and the rare luxury of not having to decide what everyone else is eating for three days.
They simply do different things to your nervous system.
The Keyhaven Coastal Retreat gives you salt air, wide horizons, wild edges and the slightly thrilling possibility of voluntarily entering very cold water. The New Forest Farm Retreat gives you trees, earth, animals, cosy barns and a roll-top bath : without anyone expecting you to prove your courage by swimming in January.
Both are proper UK residential retreats. Both offer around 10 yoga, workshop and meditation sessions over a weekend, alongside nourishing food, rest and time to do absolutely nothing useful. You can join in, slope off for a nap or hover somewhere in between. There is no leaderboard. No gold star for attending every session. No one is checking whether your downward dog has become spiritually significant.
Here is the honest difference.
Keyhaven Coastal Retreat: Winter Tide

15–17 January 2027
From £500 shared double
Private rooms from £950
Keyhaven sits where the New Forest meets the Solent, surrounded by salt marshes, hidden waterways, shoreline paths and enormous Hampshire skies. It is a landscape with very little interest in pretending to be polite. The wind arrives. The tide changes. The birds make a racket. You walk along the water with salty skin and cheeks that have finally remembered they belong to your face.
This is the classy, intimate retreat.
The accommodation is a beautiful private home with pretty rooms, and you are only three minutes from the water. There is a hot tub under the stars, a fire to come back to, brilliant food and the particular pleasure of putting on dry socks after being outside in winter.
The weekend includes:
- Vinyasa flow to warm and energise you
- Yin yoga for slower stretching and release
- Guided meditation and sound baths
- Sea dips, for the brave : and entirely optional
- Kayaking through the local waterways, weather permitting
- Coastal walks and time beside the salt marshes
- Aerial yoga and playful movement
- Foraging and edible art
- Generous plant-based meals prepared with Leiths-trained care
- Fires, hot water, quiet time and the opportunity to stare out of a window without feeling guilty

Winter Tide is for you if your body is asking for sea air, cold water and big horizons. It is for the person who feels better after a brisk walk beside the coast, who likes a little wildness with their restorative yoga retreat and who does not mind the weather having a personality.
You do not need to be an experienced yogi, a confident swimmer or a person who owns attractive waterproofs. You can paddle, watch from the shore or remain close to the fire with a hot drink. The retreat is designed to meet you where you are : not to turn you into a hardy Victorian explorer by Sunday lunchtime.

The farm is the softer, earthier cousin of the coast. It has fields, woodland, animals, converted barns, fires and the comforting knowledge that a roll-top bath is waiting somewhere nearby.
This is grounding in the least irritating sense of the word.
Set on an organic farm near Pilley and Lymington, the retreat offers plenty of space to move, explore, rest and eat properly. The farm has been certified organic by the Soil Association since 1996 and sits within 180 acres of family-run farmland. There are animals, but in a good way : the sort that make you stop and watch for five minutes rather than the sort that demand a meeting.
You are around 80 minutes from London by train, with Brockenhurst as the nearest station. The village of Pilley is a short walk away and has two good pubs, which is useful information and not an accidental detail. Lymington is under two miles away if you fancy a little more wandering, browsing or sitting down somewhere else while someone brings you food.

The farm weekend includes:
- Vinyasa flow and Yin yoga
- Meditation and sound baths
- Aerial yoga
- Foraging and edible art
- Workshops shaped around the group
- Guided walks through the forest
- Time with the land, the animals and your own thoughts
- Fires, cosy barns and roll-top baths
- Plant-based food prepared by Nova, a Leiths-trained chef
- Proper rest, laughter and the freedom to disappear for a nap
The farm is for you if you want trees, earth, animals and cosy barns without the cold-water subplot. It suits people who want to move and explore, but who also want a softer landing at the end of the day.
You can spend the afternoon foraging, trying aerial yoga or walking through the woodland. You can also sit by the fire with tea and contribute nothing whatsoever. Both are valid. One may involve mud.

Both retreats are designed to give you a generous amount of experience for your money. Nova’s retreats have been featured by The Guardian as one of the best yoga retreats in the UK and Europe, with recognition for expert tuition and value for money.
Over a weekend, you can expect around 10 yoga, workshop and meditation sessions, alongside proper meals and time away from your usual responsibilities. That is a lot packed into three days, but it does not mean you are required to attend everything. You can join a dynamic practice, settle into Yin, try a workshop, take a walk or go to bed early.
Your retreat is not a performance review.

So which one is right for you?
Choose Keyhaven if:
- You feel restored by the sea
- You like coastal walks, salt marshes and open skies
- You are curious about a sea dip or kayak trip
- You want something intimate, elegant and a little wild
- Your nervous system is asking for water, space and a change of weather
Choose the farm if:
- You prefer trees, fields and woodland
- Animals and converted barns sound more appealing than exposed coastline
- You want more dates and a lower-cost shared option
- You like having choices : workshops, walks, aerial yoga, pubs or naps
- You want a cosy, earthy yoga retreat in the New Forest
And if you still cannot decide, ask yourself a simpler question:
Do you want to be restored by water or by earth?
There is no superior answer. You are not choosing between the virtuous retreat and the one where you secretly eat cake in a bathrobe. Both include cake. Both include rest. Both give you time to move, breathe, eat well and remember that you are a person rather than a very efficient collection of calendar alerts.
