The New Forest Renewal is a chance to step away from the relentless admin of ordinary life , the inbox, the laundry, the people asking where something is when it is directly in front of them , and return to a slower, more spacious rhythm.

You’ll stay at The Manor, a luxurious private estate close to Lymington and the coast. There will be woodland, open countryside, peaceful gardens, a generous amount of outdoor space and plenty of room to do absolutely nothing for a while.

There will also be yoga. Quite a lot of it, but none of it compulsory.

This is a restorative yoga retreat designed around rest, movement, nature, creativity and deep wellbeing. You can stretch, sweat, float, walk, write, swim, eat, sleep, talk, read or quietly disappear into a comfortable chair. The choice is yours.

A slower rhythm in the New Forest

The Manor sits within an expansive private estate in Hampshire’s New Forest, with easy access to woodland, heathland and the coast.

Nearby, you’ll find:

  • New Forest woodland and open heathland
  • Free-roaming ponies , generally more committed to their own agenda than any retreat timetable
  • Lymington high street, cafés and marina
  • Coastal walks with harbour views
  • Beaches and nature reserves
  • Optional sea swimming, weather permitting

The setting does some of the softening for you. Trees are useful like that. So is salty air. So is being somewhere where the loudest interruption may be a bird, a pony or somebody asking whether there is any more tea.

You can find practical information about the wider area through the New Forest National Park Authority.

What your three-day wellness retreat includes

Your time at The Manor will be thoughtfully shaped around genuine rest rather than a punishing programme disguised as self-care.

The retreat may include:

  • Comfortable, beautifully appointed bedrooms with natural light, fresh linens and towels, plus garden or countryside views
  • A dedicated yoga and group space known as The Den
  • Dynamic Vinyasa Flow and slower, grounding practices
  • Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation and breathwork
  • Optional aerial yoga or aerial movement workshops
  • Sound baths, journaling, reflection and creative art
  • Mindful forest walks and time outdoors
  • Access to the heated swimming pool, hot tub and eight-person sauna
  • A fully equipped gym and private tennis court
  • A billiard room, gardens, terraces and outdoor lounge areas
  • Spacious shared living rooms, a drawing room and quiet reading spaces
  • Nourishing vegetarian and vegan meals prepared with care

You won’t be expected to attend everything. In fact, you won’t be expected to prove anything at all. This is a yoga retreat for beginners, experienced practitioners and everyone in between.

You can practise strongly in the morning and spend the afternoon horizontal. Both are valid. One may involve more snacks.

Yoga, meditation and movement , without the performance anxiety

The programme is designed to give you variety. Some sessions may wake up your body and build warmth. Others will ask you to slow down enough to notice what is actually going on beneath the busy surface.

The wellbeing programme may include:

  • Solar Vinyasa Flow for energising movement and breath-led practice
  • Yin Yoga for deep stretching, release and stillness
  • Yoga Nidra for guided rest
  • Breathwork and pranayama
  • Meditation
  • Gentle grounding and restorative practices
  • Aerial yoga or aerial movement workshops
  • Sound baths
  • Journaling and guided reflection
  • Creative art workshops

Everything is optional. You can adapt practices to suit your body and energy levels, and you’ll be guided clearly throughout.

There is no expectation that you should be able to touch your toes, balance on one arm or understand what your hamstrings are trying to tell you. You only need to arrive as you are.

Food that nourishes rather than lectures you

Food is a significant part of the retreat. Not as a moral exercise. Not as a bowl of leaves presented as though you’ve been given a prize for being virtuous. Proper, nourishing food prepared with care.

You can expect vegetarian and vegan meals such as:

  • A wholesome farmhouse breakfast
  • Morning tea, fruit and juices
  • A light seasonal lunch
  • A welcoming vegetarian feast
  • Nourishing evening dinner
  • A farewell brunch
  • Homemade and retreat-style treats

Dietary requirements and allergies will be discussed in advance, so you can sit down to eat without conducting a forensic investigation into every sauce.

An illustrative rhythm

The schedule will have structure, but it won’t be rigid. There is room for the weather, the group and your own need for a quiet hour with a book.

A sample day may look like this:

  • 8:00 , Morning tea, fruit and juices
  • 8:30 , Solar Vinyasa Flow and breathwork
  • 10:00 , Farmhouse breakfast
  • 11:30 , Aerial yoga workshop or nature walk
  • 1:30 , Light seasonal lunch
  • 3:00 , Spa time, tennis, optional sea swim or free time
  • 5:00 , Creative art and journaling
  • 6:00 , Free time and spa unwind
  • 7:30 , Nourishing evening dinner
  • 9:00 , Stargazing, hot tub and fireplace conversations

The final morning may include an awakening flow and heart-opening yoga, followed by a farewell nourishing brunch, closing circle and unhurried departures.

This is an illustrative rhythm rather than a fixed timetable. Specific activities, including sea swims and aerial workshops, vary by retreat and are subject to weather, availability and group preference. All activities are optional; rest is part of the retreat.

The Manor: space to settle properly

The accommodation is within a private manor set on a luxurious estate in Hampshire. Bedrooms are comfortable and beautifully appointed, with natural light, fresh linens and towels, and views across the gardens or countryside.

Shared spaces include:

  • A spacious drawing room and lounges
  • The Den, a dedicated yoga and group space
  • Elegant dining areas
  • A fully equipped kitchen
  • Outdoor gardens and terraces
  • Quiet reading areas
  • A heated swimming pool
  • Hot tub and eight-person sauna
  • Fully equipped gym
  • Private tennis court
  • Billiard room
  • Extensive grounds and outdoor lounge areas

You can join a workshop, take a walk, use the gym, sit by the fire, have a swim or spend an unreasonable amount of time deciding whether to make another cup of tea.

That is not indecision. That is retreat life.

Who this retreat is for

The New Forest Renewal is for you if you want to:

  • Step away from everyday demands
  • Move your body without pressure or comparison
  • Spend time in nature
  • Rest somewhere beautiful and peaceful
  • Explore meditation, breathwork or Yoga Nidra
  • Try creative practices and journaling
  • Enjoy nourishing vegetarian and vegan food
  • Meet yourself with a little more patience
  • Experience a restorative yoga retreat in the UK
  • Have a proper break rather than simply relocating your laptop

You don’t need previous retreat experience. You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need to know the difference between pranayama and a particularly ambitious stretch.

You can come alone, arrive quietly and take part at your own pace.

Guided by experience, held with care

I run a private Yoga Therapy practice and bespoke teacher training in London. I’ve taught yoga and meditation to the Canadian Armed Forces, the Olympic Swimming Team and students at retreats and studios internationally.

My retreats bring together expert yoga tuition, nourishing food, creativity, nature and genuine hospitality. The aim is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can rest, explore, connect and perhaps notice something important about what you need next.

That may be a profound personal realisation.

It may also be eight uninterrupted hours of sleep.

Both count.

You can read more about the approach behind my New Forest yoga retreats and the Guardian feature on my UK and European retreats.
