SPRING/SUMMER WORKSHOP Series 2019
PILLEY, HAMPSHIRE UK SO41 5QF
Within the world of symbols, myths and mystery, we can find the gateways that connect us to these sacred wells of inspiration.
Ideally, all yoga is a balance between yin and yang, effort and surrender. It can be more challenging in a culture where we are accustomed to rushing, to slow down and give our bodies ample time to rest, restore, and recharge. In this practice we will give plenty of support to your body, so that you are able to deeply relax.
Our body’s immunity and even digestion are greatly affected by stress, and promoting relaxation through this gentle practice can help to reduce chronic stress. Along with being an experience and sanctuary in itself, this workshop series will also provide you with yogic tools to mange stress on a daily basis.
GIN YIN WORKSHOP SERIES
This has to be the best way ever to start the weekend, GIN AND YOGA TOGETHER!
7-8.30pm 10th May, 14th June, 19th July 2019 @BOLDRE WAR MEMORIAL HALL, PILLEY SO41 5QF
I know it sounds mad, but really there is method in the madness. Lets use this evening workshop series to unwind and let the yoga sink into the bones with the help of some lovely gin to help relax the muscles so we can access the deeper tissues.
Explore how to activate the parasympathetic and turn off the sympathetic systems; a critical component in our Western culture which is very yang-like: full of stress, burn-out and depletion. Then we will see how to use yoga and our breath, and some gin to turn off the stress and start to rest and recharge the body.
The postures will be simple and accessible to everyone, but this does not mean that the practice will be easy; there will be some challenging moments.
There is a bit of science to it, but mostly it is great excuse to do something you love while doing something else you love.

7 proven health benefits of drinking gin
1. Juniper berries are super berries
The word “gin” actually derives from the older English word genever and the Latin word for juniper, juniperus. Gin is the most natural spirit as its main ingredient is juniper berries. These super berries are jam-packed with infection fighting qualities as they are warming, stimulating and disinfecting.
2. More antioxidants = fewer wrinkles
Juniper berries are full of antioxidants and boost the regenerating cells in your body for smoother, healthier looking skin.
3. It’s a low-calorie spirit
You don’t need to worry too much about your waistline. Gin is one of the least calorific spirits with 97 calories per shot. The juniper berries come into action by increasing the number of enzymes that break down your food and helping your digestion. This also means less bloating.
4. It can help you live longer
You guessed it. Juniper berries. They contain flavonoids which are great for preventing heart disease and improving your blood circulation as you get older. Although, of course, excessive drinking could have the opposite effect.
5. It can help fight kidney and liver disease
Juniper berries help stop water retention in your body, allowing you to pass more water than any other alcohol. This means that more of the harmful toxins and bacteria which you consume when you drink alcohol are flushed out your system.
6. It’s good for your bones and joints
Gin’s makeup helps to relieve achy joints and gout, and its alcohol content coupled with the juniper berries can be an effective treatment for chronic pain and inflammations, such as arthritis.
7. It can help fight off coughs
The oils contained in juniper berries can alleviate coughs by expelling the mucus in the throat and aiding lung congestion. The great thing about gin is that it can be mixed with many different herbs and ingredients such as ginger, which will help to soothe a sore throat.
